Acupuncture

Summary: A time-honored healing practice that restores energy balance to relieve pain and promote whole-body wellness.

Overview & Philosophy

One of the oldest forms of medicine currently practiced in the world today. Acupuncture is the placement of needles slightly beneath the skin with the intention of re-directing life energy or Qi. The basic tenet of Chinese medicine is that your personal life energy or Qi travels along “meridians” or channels in your body and when that flow is interrupted or the pathway is changed, disease or pain may result. Acupuncture treatment seeks to restore the natural balance in your Qi and thus restore balance to the part of the body that has been affected.

Uses & Benefits

Acupuncture is most commonly used to heal chronic pain of the joints or muscles, headaches, and systemic illnesses of the body. It has also been used to help with weight loss and weight management, recovery from addictions, and may other difficulties. If you have a medical or personal issue and cannot seem to find help, call us to find out if acupuncture is for you.

NAET

Summary: A gentle, drug-free therapy to naturally desensitize allergic responses using acupuncture, kinesiology, and nutritional science.

Overview

NAET® was discovered by Dr. Devi S. Nambudripad in November of 1983. Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Techniques, also known as NAET, is a non-invasive, drug free, natural solution to alleviate allergies of all types and intensities using a blend of selective energy balancing, testing and treatment procedures from acupuncture/acupressure, allopathy, chiropractic, nutritional, and kinesiological disciplines of medicine.

Treatment Process

One allergen is treated at a time. If you are not severely immune deficient, you may need just one treatment to desensitize one allergen. A person with a mild to moderate amount of allergies may take about 15-20 office visits to desensitize 15-20 food and environmental allergens.

Allergens Treated/Results

Basic essential nutrients are treated during the first few visits. Chemicals, environmental allergens, vaccinations, immunizations, etc. are treated after completing about ten basic essential nutrients. NAET can successfully alleviate adverse reactions to egg, milk, peanuts, penicillin, aspirin, mushrooms, shellfish, latex, grass, ragweed, flowers, perfume, animal dander, animal epithelial, make-up, chemicals, cigarette smoke, pathogens, heat, cold, or other environmental agents. It may take several office visits to desensitize a severe allergen.

Functional Medicine

Summary: A systems-based, personalized approach that focuses on identifying and addressing the root causes of illness.

Overview

Functional medicine is a personalized, systems-oriented model of integrative medicine. It maintains the patient-centered approach, especially focusing on the interactions among genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors that can influence long-term health. Functional medicine provides a flexible and adaptive structure for clinicians to gather and sort information into the seven biological systems in which core clinical imbalances are found.

The Seven Biological Systems
  • Assimilation: digestion, absorption, microbiota/GI system, respiration
  • Defense and repair: immune, inflammation, infection/microbiota
  • Energy: energy regulation, mitochondrial function
  • Biotransformation and elimination: toxicity, detoxification
  • Transport: cardiovascular and lymphatic systems
  • Communication: endocrine, neurotransmitters, immune messengers
  • Structural integrity: subcellular membranes to musculoskeletal integrity
The Core Principles of Functional Medicine
  • Acknowledging the biochemical individuality of each human being, based on concepts of genetic and environmental uniqueness
  • Incorporating a patient-centered rather than a disease-centered approach to treatment
  • Seeking a dynamic balance among the internal and external factors in a patient’s body, mind, and spirit
  • Addressing the web-like interconnections of internal physiological factors
  • Identifying health as a positive vitality—not merely the absence of disease—and emphasizing those factors that encourage a vigorous physiology
  • Promoting organ reserve as a means of enhancing the health span, not just the life span, of each patient
Summary Note

Functional Medicine is a science-using profession

Integrative Medicine

Summary: Blending traditional medical science with proven alternative therapies for comprehensive, preventive wellness.

Definition & Philosophy

Integrative Medicine describes an approach to health and medicine that seeks to integrate complementary and alternative healing philosophies and approaches with conventional medical care, neither rejecting conventional care nor accepting alternative therapies uncritically.

Focus & Principles

One allergen is treated at a time. If you are not severely immune deficient, you may need just one treatment to desensitize one allergen. A person with a mild to moderate amount of allergies may take about 15-20 office visits to desensitize 15-20 food and environmental allergens.

Core Principles of Integrative Medicine
  • The patient and practitioner are partners in the healing process.
  • All factors that influence health, wellness, and disease are taken into consideration, including mind, spirit, and community, as well as the body.
  • Appropriate use of both conventional and alternative methods facilitates the body’s innate healing response.
  • Effective interventions that are natural and less invasive should be used whenever possible.
  • Integrative medicine neither rejects conventional medicine nor accepts alternative therapies uncritically.
  • Good medicine is based on good science. It is inquiry-driven and open to new paradigms.
  • Alongside the concept of treatment, the broader concepts of health promotion and the prevention of illness are paramount.
  • Practitioners of integrative medicine should exemplify its principles and commit themselves to self-exploration and self-development.

Hot/Cold Tubing

Summary: A restorative treatment alternating hot and cold immersion to enhance recovery, circulation, and vitality.

Overview & Background

Hot and cold plunge therapy, also known as contrast hydrotherapy or the “Nordic Cycle,” is a restorative wellness practice that alternates immersion in hot and cold water to promote physical recovery, mental clarity, and overall rejuvenation. Rooted in ancient traditions like Finnish saunas dating back to 7000 BC, this therapy has gained modern popularity among athletes, wellness enthusiasts, and those seeking stress relief. By cycling between heat (typically 100–104°F / 38–40°C in a sauna or hot tub) and cold (50°F or below / 10°C or less in a plunge tub), the treatment stimulates blood flow, reduces inflammation, and enhances the body’s natural healing processes.

Benefits
  • Muscle Recovery and Pain Relief: The contrast effect causes blood vessels to dilate (hot phase) and constrict (cold phase), creating a “pumping” action that flushes out lactic acid, reduces swelling, and alleviates soreness—ideal post-workout or for injury rehabilitation.
  • Improved Circulation and Immune Support: Alternating temperatures boosts cardiovascular health, increases white and red blood cell production, and may strengthen immunity.
  • Mental Wellness and Stress Reduction: Hot immersion relaxes the nervous system and elevates mood, while cold exposure builds resilience, reduces anxiety, and enhances focus through endorphin release.
  • Detoxification and Energy Boost: Sweating in heat detoxifies the body, and the invigorating cold plunge energizes the spirit, promoting better sleep and vitality.
Research supports these effects, with studies showing reduced fatigue in athletes 24–48 hours after intense activity.
How the Session Works

Our 45–60 minute private session is designed for comfort and personalization in a serene, spa-like environment:

  1. Preparation: Begin with a quick rinse shower to cleanse the skin. Bring your own towel, swimsuit, and water bottle.
  2. Hot Phase (10–15 minutes): Relax in hot tub, allowing deep heat to penetrate muscles, promote sweating, and unwind tension.
  3. Cold Plunge (2–3 minutes): Submerge in our sanitary, chilled plunge tub (around 48°F / 9°C) for an invigorating shock that constricts blood vessels and heightens alertness.
  4. Repeat Cycle: Alternate 2–4 times, building tolerance gradually. Finish on hot for relaxation or cold for an energy surge.
  5. Wind Down: End with a soothing shower of your temperature preference.
Who It’s For

Perfect for athletes recovering from training, busy professionals combating stress, or anyone exploring biohacking for longevity. Not recommended for those with heart conditions, pregnancy, or open wounds—consult a doctor first.

Trager Approach

Summary: Gentle, mindful bodywork that re-educates the nervous system for improved mobility, ease, and mental clarity.

Overview

The Trager Approach is a gentle, non-invasive form of somatic education and bodywork therapy, developed over more than 50 years by Dr. Milton Trager, MD. It emphasizes psychophysical integration, recognizing the mind-body connection where physical tension often originates from unconscious mental patterns. Rather than focusing on “fixing” symptoms, the approach uses subtle touch and movement to re-educate the nervous system, promoting neuroplasticity for lasting improvements in movement, relaxation, and overall well-being.

Key Components
  • Tablework (Hands-On Session): The client lies fully clothed on a treatment table while the practitioner uses soft, rhythmic movements and communicates with the client’s unconscious mind through touch. This encourages the release of deep-seated muscular tension without force, pain, or resistance, fostering a sense of lightness, freedom, and effortless mobility.
  • Mentastics (Movement Education): Clients learn simple, self-directed exercises to use in daily life. These gentle, mindful movements enhance sensory awareness, reduce habitual tension, and support neuroplastic changes for improved posture and ease of motion.
Benefits

The Trager Approach facilitates deep relaxation, increased joint mobility, mental clarity, and reduced stress by interrupting chronic pain cycles and restoring natural, joyful movement patterns. It’s particularly effective for:

  • Chronic and acute back/neck pain, joint irritation, and soft tissue discomfort.
  • Stress-related issues like tension headaches and shoulder tension.
  • Neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, and post-polio syndrome.
  • Post-surgical recovery, orthopedic issues, and complex pain syndromes like fibromyalgia or PTSD.
Session Details

Sessions typically last 90 minutes, with clients often reporting immediate feelings of lightness and improved body awareness. It’s complementary to other therapies, and suitable for all ages.
